Sussex Transport is delighted to be one of the key sponsors at this years Worthing Street Velodrome event, being held on the weekend of 1st and 2nd August in Worthing, West Sussex.
We will be taking two of our brand new Mercedes Actros lorries to the event, allowing members of the public to sit in the cab and experience a lorry drivers view of the road – demonstrating all our newly installed safety features which provides drivers with much improved exposure to vulnerable road users.
This is also a fun opportunity for kids of all ages to have a photograph taken at the wheel of one of our largest vehicles!
There will be plenty of Sussex Transport staff on site to answer questions on haulage, storage as well as several drivers who can tell you all about the cycle safety training they have had.
According to their website , Street Velodrome is created to reflect the growing appetite for the drama and excitement of cycle sport and the broad appeal of Olympic style track racing. For riders, Street Velodrome offers a thrilling, adrenaline filled riding experience. For spectators, a close racing spectacle with an exciting and accessible appeal. Fans can see 100% of the action!
The racing is shown in highlight and magazine television shows broadcast in over 180 countries, including, Sky Sports, Eurosport, Channel 4, Fox Sports, Universal, ESPN and Canal+. StreetVelodrome is fast becoming the World’s most dynamic Pro / Am cycle sport competition.
Having ensured our drivers received practical training in London on a Safe Urban Driving course – which has involved them taking to two wheels to experience a cyclists viewpoint as well as a classroom based lesson, it seemed the perfect opportunity to sponsor and support a cycling event in our home county of Sussex!
We cant wait until this event and hope to see lots of cycling enthusiasts there!
