It’s an exciting week at Sussex Transport as we introduce a new Volvo FH truck to our lifting fleet, marking another step forward in our haulage and lifting capabilities. The addition of this truck further improves our capacity, operational efficiency and safety, tailored to meet the complex needs of modern logistics.
The new Volvo FH is designed for heavy-duty tasks, equipped with a flatbed trailer capable of handling a payload of up to 10,000 kg. But the real highlight is the Palfinger PK 580 TEC crane mounted on it. This crane boasts an impressive lift capacity of 11,300 kg at 4.5 meters, which is about the weight of three adult giraffes! Even at a reach of 16.5 meters, it can lift 2,700 kg, showcasing its exceptional range and strength for various lifting tasks.
To enhance its versatility, we’ve paired this powerful truck with a 3-axle drawbar trailer, creating an optimal combination for diverse lifting and haulage needs. Whether it’s navigating tight urban spaces or executing complex lifts at construction sites, this setup provides the flexibility and power required.
One of the standout features of the new Volvo FH is the cutting-edge DVS (Direct Vision Standard) camera system it’s equipped with, known as the Progressive Safe System (PSS). This technology incorporates A.I. cameras that effectively distinguish between pedestrians and vehicles, an essential feature for enhancing safety in bustling areas like London. The system aims to minimise blind spots and improve the driver’s direct vision around the truck’s vicinity, crucial for preventing accidents in crowded urban environments.
