Argentinians are keen Polo players and it isn’t a sport associated with the rich and famous! – Polo is the oldest ball sport in the world dating back to 600 BC.
The word is derived from the “pulu”, the willow root from which the polo balls were crafted in Tibet over 2000 years ago.
The sport gradually spread through Asia to India, where it was introduced to tea planters and British soldiers, who brought the game to England.
The first match was played in the UK in 1871 between the 9th lancers and 10th Hussars.
One of the players in this match was Captain Frank Henry who started the Beaufort Polo Club in 1872.
We made a dedicated delivery of goods to the Beaufort Polo Club in Gloucestershire last week, where Prince Harry is a member!
Hours after they saw the third in line to the throne waving to crowds from the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Jubilee celebrations, amazed petrol station staff in Colchester were serving Prince Harry a pre-packed
sandwich!
Flanked by security guards and sporting a polo jacket, the prince bought a smoked bacon sandwich, chilli prawns, some chewing gum and a drink, while surprised staff looked on.
The Prince spent around ten minutes chatting to them before making his way on his journey to Ipswich
