Sussex Transport utilised one of it’s HIAB vehicles for a dedicated road haulage delivery to Tidworth Garrison in Wiltshire a few weeks ago.
The barracks at Tidworth are named after British Army battles in India and Afghanistan and have been part of Tidworth since the early 1900’s.
Tidworth Polo Club is the second largest in the country and frequently plays host to royals such as Prince William and Prince Harry. Famous for his chart topping song ‘You’re Beautiful’ musician James Blunt was born in Tidworth!
Arncott in Bicester is a small town in Oxfordshire which is even mentioned in the Domesday Book
In March, Sussex Transport made a dedicated delivery of building materials to St Georges Barracks in Arncott using one of their 18t curtain sider vehicles.
The history of Bicester is fascinating and particularly important for military aviation heritage. The grass flying field still survives with its 1939 boundaries largely intact, bounded by a group of bomb stores built in 1938/9 and airfield defences built in the early stages of the Second World War.
