Last week we made a dedicated delivery of medical equipment to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for one of our clients
The Hospital for Sick Children first opened it doors at 49 Great Ormond Street on Valentine’s Day in 1852, with just 10 beds.
The first child to be admitted was two-year-old George Parr, who had catarrh and diarrhoea ( not serious by today’s standards, but this was a time when one third of children born in London died before adulthood.)
The new hospital quickly attracted public attention and support from Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens and author JM Barrie, who donated the copyright to his famous play Peter Pan to the hospital.
In 2002, the hospital celebrated its 150th anniversary with a year of commemorative and fundraising events, kicked off by Victoria Beckham, The Queen and Prime Minister at the time, Tony Blair.
Many people feel compelled to donate to this worthwhile charity – click here for a link to their charity donation page.
