We’re doing a little throw back today to a time where Covent Garden was well, Covent Garden. Bustling with shoppers and pop up shops like the Pandora one we helped with one night. As the shops closed one evening in September 2019 we arrived with a Flatbed load of structural parts and a crane to help assemble.
Back in the summer, our customer contacted us with regards an “out of hours” delivery with a HIAB Crane into Covent Garden, London. A job that came with strict health and safety guidelines that were in place to protect the public and the installation team. Sussex Transport major on safe lifting and are very well versed in FORS and the London Lorry Control Scheme.
The LLCS controls the movement of heavy goods vehicles over 18 tonnes maximum gross weight, it operates at night and weekends on specific roads in London helping to minimise noise pollution. Enforcement is carried out in residential areas during unsociable hours through restricted use of these roads. Not keeping to the agreed route and adhering to the LLCS rules brings with it substantial fines for the haulage company and the driver.
Once we had notified our route and everything was in place and we had successfully received our movement permission from the LLCS our hiab / crane vehicle was sent to load in Surrey for a delivery into London’s Covent Garden between 7pm and 10pm that same night.
On arrival at site our customer’s team were already on there to oversee the hiab / crane offloading of their pop-up box which was going to be in situ for a couple of days to celebrate the launch of their new collection.
These temporary “pop-up” buildings are cost-effective and extremely versatile in the way that they can be designed to fit on and be transported anywhere on the back of a truck.
Businesses have found that a pop up store is the perfect solution to place a temporary portable shop/exhibition structure anywhere they choose, ideal for places where space is at a premium. They are perfect in this day and age for exhibiting at events, festivals and other promotional venues and can be used time and time again with minimal outlay… or they can simply just remain in situ indefinitely in places like airports.
So two days later the pop up was ‘popped down’ and reloaded back onto our vehicle for return to its original storage location in Surrey…. safe and sound and ready for its next adventure.
If you have a “pop up” that you want popping up somewhere then we are your transport provider…. anytime of the day or night to any location you choose.
