Another low loader trailer rolled into our yard and onto the fleet a couple of weeks ago and with double flip toe hydraulic ramps for ease of loading and unloading, along with a trailer-mounted winch for non-mobile recovery of plant it is already proving useful.
This week we have transported one of our favourite items, a piling rig.
The basis of a safe and secure building is its underpinning or foundations. This is increasingly achieved with the use of large machines known as piling rigs which are a construction machine for piling in foundation engineering. It is mainly applied to drill in sandy soil, clay, silty clay etc and widely used cast-in-place piles, diaphragm walls, foundation reinforcement and other foundation projects.
The drilling rigs come in all shapes, sizes and weights and can often weigh in at around 100 tonnes, so carrying these machines is no mean feat and whatever the size of rig will constitute as an extremely specialist job requiring not only a professional heavy haulage company but also experienced drivers.
The routes for movements often have to be planned in advance by our transport team so as to ensure that every route takes into consideration not only the possibility of encountering low bridges but also weight and height restrictions, once this information has been gained we will then notify the Police Forces for each county that the proposed route passes through to obtain a movement order, once this has been received we will then where required organise the escort vehicle(s) and a second man to travel with the driver.
