This week we are making a dedicated delivery of catering and dining equipment to Gordon Ramsay’s Restaurant in Claridges Hotel, The Tower of London, Kensington Palace and Temple Pier on the Thames – a very prestigious delivery – as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
George III was the first British Monarch to celebrate a Jubilee, as we do today, when he celebrated his Golden Jubilee in 1809. The main day of celebration was 25 October and was marked by a private service in Windsor, attended by The King and other members of the Royal Family, and then with a grand fete and firework display at Frogmore.
Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1897. It was marked with a Royal Procession, led by The Queen in a horse drawn carriage, through London on 22 June. They started at Buckingham Palace, then onto St Paul’s Cathedral for a short outside service of thanksgiving, continuing via the Mansion House across London Bridge and through South London, before returning over Westminster Bridge, past the Houses of Parliament back to Buckingham Palace.
This week, Queen Elizabeth II marks her 60th year as monarch and on Tuesday 5 June, the Diamond Jubilee weekend will culminate with a day of celebrations in central London. This will include a service at St Paul’s Cathedral followed by two receptions, a lunch at Westminster Hall, a Carriage Procession to Buckingham Palace and finally a Balcony appearance, Flypast, and Feu de Joie (rifle salute)
A Somerset village is getting in the Jubilee spirit by attempting to set a new world record for the longest continuous bunting. Organisers in Cheddar are hoping to create a single string of bunting which will stretch up to 4,500m (2.8 miles) through the village and up the gorge.
Passengers touching down in London’s Heathrow for the upcoming Queen’s Diamond Jubilee can have something to look forward to – with red carpets due to be rolled out in arrivals and a Salvation Army band keeping spirits up among the crowds.
