Sheerness, on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent was the destination last week for one of our Artic Flatbed Lorries.
The Isle of Sheppey is 36 square miles in size and the name ‘Sheppey’ is derived from the Saxon word for sheep – and even today large flocks of sheep inhabit the island. In fact a rare breed of long tailed sheep are resident here!
This year is the first Sheerness Promenade Festival of Art and Architecture which will take place during the second week of September. Organised by Will Palin who has managed to save 11 historic buildings in Sheerness Dockyard, speakers will include the architecture and design critic of the Financial Times, Edwin Heathcote. He has also invited his father – Monty Python star and travel writer Michael Palin who will speak on Sunday 11th
Our flatbed lorry and experienced driver made easy work of delivering building materials to the Island – which is joined to the mainland by the ‘Sheppey Crossing’ road bridge.
