Last week we made a dedicated delivery in one of our 7.5t trucks to Leatherhead in Surrey.
The man who broke both the land and water speed record in the same year, lived in Leatherhead! Donald Malcolm Campbell, CBE was a British speed record breaker who broke eight world speed records in the 1950s and 1960s. He remains the only person to set both world land and water speed records in the same year (1964).
He reached a speed of 276 mph on water and 429 mph on land and died in a fatal accident during his attempt at beating his own water speed record in Cumbria.
Actor Michael Caine, famous for his roles in ‘Alfie’, ‘The Italian Job’ and ‘The IPCRESS File’ also resides in Leatherhead, Surrey. Not a lot of people know that!
