In the last few weeks we have been transporting essential deliveries throughout Europe; three of our articulated lorries have travelled to the south coast of France, making a dedicated (and subsequent collection) to Cannes – home to the rich and famous as well as events such as the Film Fesitval. Spotted arriving in the French harbour town on a webcam – it looks like the drivers enjoyed some fine weather in the resort!
We have also seen a driver making a three week trip to Eastern Europe, delivering goods to Croatia, Poland and Germany, for one of our prestigious clients on the back of one of our flatbed HIAB vehicles. In the first week he had the lorry checked over by a local police officer – carrying out routine checks – only to find that the police officer has a brother who lives in the next town to our head office – in Worthing, West Sussex!
There are new legislations for foreign lorry drivers in France, which we are committed to adhering to ahead of sending over any of our drivers to work in or drive through France. The new French law requires foreign truck drivers to be paid at least the French minimum wage when they make deliveries there, or indeed are driving through the country. The law, which came into force just a few months ago, requires evidence of driver’s wages and proof that we have appointed a representative there. So all of the drivers we are sending to / through France are armed with necessary paperwork and details logged on the required website ahead of their journeys!
