Offering deliveries all over the UK, Sussex Transport can also provide a pick and pack service from their large, secure warehouse in Lancing, West Sussex.
Last week we made a delivery of industrial piping to Blackpool– home of the pleasure beach and one of Britain’s favourite UK holiday destinations, on one of our fleet of 7.5t vehicles.
Blackpool has been selected to host the Olympic torch on 22nd June as it makes its way around the UK before reaching its destination in London for the start of the 2012 Olympic Games. London 2012 chairman Lord Coe has outlined a route of more than 70 overnight and island stops, which will mean that the torch comes within a one-hour journey for 95% of the population.
The origins of the torch relay date back to ancient Greece, when messengers were sent out from Olympia to announce the competition dates and call for a halt to all combat operations during the Games.
In 2012 the final torch-bearer, whose identity is kept secret until the last moment, lights the monumental Olympic cauldron in the stadium, which is kept alight until the closing ceremony.
Lit in Olympia, Greece in a traditional ceremony, the Olympic Flame will be taken on a short relay in Greece before arriving in the UK on 18 May 2012.
Great excitement here in Lancing where Sussex Transport is based as the torch is also destined for our town on Monday 16th July, passing through nearby Worthing and Brighton on its 70 day tour!
