Qatar Goodwood Festival is undoubtedly the sporting and social highlight of the
season at Goodwood, just outside of Chichester, West Sussex. With five days of thrilling action set against the magnificent backdrop of the rolling Sussex countryside, The Qatar Goodwood Festival – more popularly known as ‘Glorious Goodwood’ – is one of the highlights of the flat-racing season. The gates opened at 11.00am on Tuesday 30th
July and finishes this coming Saturday the 3rd August.
This is the event where elegant fashion combines with some of the greatest races in the world to create a festival week like no other… so come on ladies and gents, check out the dress code, get your glad rags on, if you are stumped for ideas then why not take a look online at the Goodwood page for some style inspiration and maybe purchase one of the three iconic panama hats they have to offer!
Here are some of the highlights that Glorious Goodwood has to offer this year…
- Day one starts with the opening ceremony and then attracts the best equine athletes in the world to take part in Goodwoods newest Group 1 The Qatar Goodwood Cup worth £500,000
- Day two highlights the £1million Qatar Sussex Stakes with two further group races
providing the perfect chance to get against the rails for the best racing the sport has to
offer. - Day three is Ladies Day, the most glamorous day of the Festival, its the place to be seen
and boasts the ladies amateur jockey race the “Magnolia Cup” which raises money for
“Wellbeing of Woman” a very worthy cause. Today is also the day for the prestigious
Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes worth a cool £600,000 - Day four sees the £300,00 Group 2 Qatar King George Stakes along with seven
compelling races including four group races bringing the sport’s biggest names to
Goodwood. Today is complemented with the “Best Dressed” competition where one lady is chosen by a panel of top judges to win an all-expenses paid trip to South Africa – a genuine “chance of a lifetime” prize. - Day Five sees the £250,000 Unibet Stewards Cup take centre stage for the final day of
the Qatar Goodwood Festival.
Whether you choose to go for just the one day or all five days Goodwood is truly an amazing magical place with atmosphere in abundance so whatever the weather conditions are it is always a memorable day and one not to be missed!
