Sussex Transport makes collections and deliveries all over the UK, as well as storing goods for clients in large, secure warehousing. Last week one of our Hiabs made a delivery of goods to a depot in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
- High Wycombe appears in the Domesday Book and was noted for having six mills.
- The town once featured a Roman Villa and recently mosaics and a bath house were uncovered at the site.
- High Wycombe remained a mill town through Medieval and Tudor times, with the manufacture of lace and linen cloth.
- In 1875, it was estimated that there were 4,700 chairs made per day in High Wycombe.
Notable residents of High Wycombe include Frankie Vaughan, James Corden, Colin Baker (the BEST doctor from Doctor Who!) Dusty Springfield, Heston Blumenthal and Howard Jones … Ah! Howard Jones …from the 80’s.. floppy hair and a mime artist dancing in the background – he worked in a cling film factory there until he found chart success with songs such as ‘New Song’ and ‘What is Love?’
More recently, Leigh-Anne from last year’s X Factor winning girl group ‘Little Mix’ has kept High Wycombe on the map! (For the younger generation, at least!)
Our uniformed driver successfully delivered the goods to our client on the HIAB.
