Sussex Transport made a dedicated delivery of equipment to Horsham Festival of Cricket this month. Utilising both a HIAB lorry and 18t Curtain Side vehicle, chairs, advertising hoardings and the ‘blotter’ for the pitch (A huge sponge roller which is used to soak up and rainwater on the pitch) were all delivered to one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world!
Sussex, along with Kent , is believed to be the birthplace of cricket. It is widely held that cricket was invented by children living on the Weald in Saxon or Norman times.
Although cricket was played in Horsham before 1768, the first recorded game was on 8th August 1771, which is when Horsham Cricket Club was created.
The Horsham ground is situated on the appropriately named ‘Cricketfield Road’ and is one of the most beautiful in the country.
Sussex Transport are pleased to be involved with many sporting activities on a regular basis! – we’re bowled over with new enquires – we would be happy to give you a quote for your next delivery !
