It was contract lift time again recently, and this one was just down the road in Worthing, West Sussex.
When the developer of a prestigious development in Worthing asked our team to come up with a solution to lift and place a 6ton standby generator into position at the site it didn’t take long for our Appointed Person to arrive on-site, complete the survey and secure the job.
Initially, the task was to lift the generator down into a tight concrete access path between the new builds using a mobile crane. Once securely on the ground (well, onto our skates) the job required us to reposition/skate it 40-metres from the offload location.
Ultimate care was needed as we shifted the generator using a tirfor winch – allowing us to manually control the speed and location with relative ease until we got the unit into its final position.
To complete this contract lift successfully Sussex Transport supplied the mobile crane, fully qualified lifting team, machine moving equipment, and full set of RAMS supplied by our in-house CPCS Appointed Person.
