At Sussex Transport we have a lot of clients who regularly require our transportation services to move their goods to all four corners of the United Kingdom. This week we received instructions from of one of those clients who specialises in the manufacturing of steel frames for modular buildings, we were asked to supply 5 artic flatbed trailers to collect from Shoreham in Sussex and deliver the same day directly to site located in Sandwich, Kent.
Our customer use welded light weight cold formed steel to create a monocoque shell: this makes the modules lighter to transport, creates a uniformly distributed load and is more robust than wooden frames.
The system is flexible so that any shape can be formed and openings for doors and windows can be made anywhere in the frame. Each building is formed by a set of individual modules; it has infinite number of shapes and sizes, with bespoke designs to satisfy each client’s requirements.
The completed modules are then transported to site and fitted together to form the final building, in a quick, clean, safe and quiet manner – this allows for a rapid build being perfect for emergencies, time sensitive targets and temporary accommodation solutions.
Once all trailers had been loaded by mobile crane, strapped down and secured by our drivers they were ready to set off in convoy to their final destination.
Sandwich is based in the far south-east of Kent and is a historic town with many original medieval buildings. It has also been twinned over the years with Hornfleur in France, Ronse in Belguim, Sonsbeck in Germany and lastly Sandwich, Massachusetts in the United States. However, Sandwich is probably most famous for giving its name to the food by way of John Montagu, The 4th Earl of sandwich.
So whether its modular buildings or sandwiches you want to transport we at Sussex Transport have the vehicle to suit your every requirement.
