Last week we were asked to transport a mobile bar in kit form so to speak from its storage
location in West Sussex to its delivery point in Bristol. The bar is made up of two 20ft containers and a 30ft container and travels on a wagon and drag hiab with an accompanying artic and trailer, both vehicles are loaded and offloaded using the
hiab which saves on the need and expense of additional loading/offloading equipment at both collection and delivery points.
The bars final destination was “The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta” which is Europe’s
largest annual meeting of hot air balloons, attracting 100,000 visitors each day and over 130 Hot Air Balloons from across the globe. The Fiesta truly is a sight that can only be seen in Bristol.
Held over four days in August at Ashton Court Estate, Alongside the fantastic site of hot air balloons filling the skies there are also large number of great trade stands, fairground rides and entertainment, pretty much something for all the family to enjoy.
Unfortunately due to the high winds and challenging weather conditions experienced this year the balloon flights were somewhat hindered and the site even was even temporarily closed for safety reasons, however one of the most iconic parts of the Fiesta are the Nightglows (this is when a collection of balloons tether and light up the night’s sky in time to a soundtrack) and certainly one of these managed to go ahead, so unfortunately this year the crowd had to be happy with the naked nightglow and Darth Vader flying over the suspension bridge… a sight to be seen!!
Despite all of this all that hot air made for thirsty work which is where the bar came into its own… what was left to do but to sit back with a glass of something chilled and watch the nightglow unfold before your very eyes…Perfect despite the good old British weather!!
