This weekend sees the 26th Vitality Brighton Half Marathon and is one of the most popular road races in the UK – so we are expecting lots of visitors to our region on Saturday!
Sussex Transport are lucky enough to be based just along the coast from Brighton and are happy to be making a very special delivery of vital refreshments on behalf of Sussex Beacon
A small group of individuals started the race back in 1990 and the money raised from that first race was used to help fund the building of The Sussex Beacon, the charity which organises the race.
Over the past 25 years the race has grown in numbers and is now one of the largest running events in the south east and a significant fundraising event for many worthy charities and causes.
In 2014, the Brighton Half Marathon was delighted to be selected to join the Vitality Run Series, which launched with seven of the UK’s leading half marathons and a 10K.
The Vitality Brighton Half Marathon is the biggest annual fundraising event for The Sussex Beacon, supporting a specialist HIV care centre in Brighton. Find out more information about The Sussex Beaconhere.
Over the past few years Sussex Transport have been asked to deliver bottles of water and energy to the event – which means a very early start for our driver as he needs to be there well ahead of any participants or spectators.
