Another 7.5t curtain sider was used in a delivery to The Jerwood Gallery (now Hastings Contemporary) construction site in Hastings, East Sussex recently by Sussex Transport.
Developed and fully funded by the Jerwood Foundation, the ambition is to create a major new cultural venue with regional and national importance, contribute to the regeneration of Hastings, and build worthwhile partnerships with local organisations.
The Jerwood Foundation’s aim for this project is to put the Jerwood Collection on public display for the first time, and bring the work of the UK’s best young artists to the public’s attention.
The structure will be purpose-built to create the best possible environment for experiencing art, with a design that responds sensitively and creatively to it’s surroundings. It is also engineered to be as environmentally efficient as possible, with CO2 emissions of around 40% compared to a standard gallery design.
Sussex Transports’ general road haulage division received instructions to deliver building materials to this project and within 24 hours had successfully delivered on time and in full – another happy customer!
